In honor of the long-awaited Summer (which, for some of us, is taking her sweeeet time getting here), here's a video tutorial I made with Tyler on how to make the perfect mint julep.

Click through for the recipe!

3 oz. Bourbon (I use Maker's Mark in many of my mixed whiskey-based drinks)
1-2 bushels of mint
1/4 oz. Simple syrup
ice

Bruise 5-6 mint leaves (don't pulverize) and press leaves along the inside of a metal julep cup. Use muddler to lightly muddle a few leaves at the bottom of the cup. Add crushed ice until it mounds over the rim of the cup. Pour bourbon over ice and let cool for a couple of minutes before adding simple syrup. Stuff remaining bundles of mint into the top of the cup like a bouquet. Add a couple of small cocktail straws and serve.
