Well friends, straightaway I should divulge that there's no brilliant picture here, no set up, no well-thought-out photography. What I have is proof (100 proof, if you will) that this is a drink suitable for summer meanderings, and in the meantime, a video to whet your appetite for all things artistic and inspiring.

You'd think, after two weeks in Europe, that Your Gal Friday would've come back with a more inspiring lead-in, perhaps a harrowing tale involving absinthe and debauchery, but alas - Your Gal Boozey is nothing if not the consummate professional, so any alcohol consumed was purely in the name of business: wine, wine, and more Heineken (did I meantion that Heini is the Bud Light of France?).
But this evening I had the pleasure of hosting a certain Adam Sjoberg at my humble abode and, inspired by the fruits of summer, we whipped up a boozy beverage suitable for all manners of businesslike discussion, artistic inspiration, and aspirational dreaming. It's a cocktail for those times when you want to think big and talk bigger; for balmy nights and impending days, when the conversation drifts to more inspirational talk. When no dream is too big to mold into a goal and even casual conversations turn into epic documentaries or dream-come-true trips abroad.
In the spirit of summertime inspiration, here's a sneak peek at what's been inspiring Adam, who was the sole inspiration for this drink. So grab a shaker and get a few good folks to surround you and start the discussion - I guarantee good things will come of it.

The Pavement
Ingredients:
1/4 oz. simple syrup
1/4 oz. grenadine
3/4 oz. bourbon (I used Maker's Mark)
3 oz. Ruby Red Vodka
Squeeze a wedge of lemon juice
Combine ingredients and shake like the dickens. Serve on the rocks, preferably with the kind of cherry you can only find in upscale establishments who'd scoff at those fluorescent red pickled admonishments. Combine this with every goal you'd ever thought to be too outlandish to attain and consume with reckless abandon.
